About Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is the use of psychological methods, particularly when based on regular personal interaction, to help a person change their behaviour and overcome problems in desired ways. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills.

Type of Therapy

We provide one-to-one, open-ended or time limited psychodynamic therapy to adults. Sessions are in-person or online depending on individual requirements.

What to expect

At The London Psychotherapist, we aim to form a therapeutic alliance in order to embark on this journey together and find the causes of your distress or emotional suffering. It is normal to experience uncertainty or anxiety about the psychotherapeutic process, but we are trained to listen, and we are prepared to accompany you on this journey.

Initial consultation

After you contact us, we will call or email you to arrange one or two initial consultations, where we can discuss your needs and the nature of your difficulties. This will help us decide if we could work together therapeutically. This means whether you feel you will be able to bring whatever you need to our sessions and also how our approach could impact your circumstances.

In the initial consultation, we will also talk about the length and frequency of sessions as well as confidentiality, fees and the cancellations policy.
